In the First War of Independence, Odh strongly condemned the British. It is not so surprising that this resistance took place under the leadership of Begum, a veiled Begum of the deposed Wajid Ali Shah, who instilled such in enthusiasm in the soldier that the snatched kingdom Odh was once again captured by the Indians.
