The Jama Masjid of Delhi, by Thomas Longcroft (1780-1811), 1786. Longcrot came to India in 1783 hoping to make a living with his painting. However, he purchased an estate at Koil near Aligarh in 1787 and became an indigo planter, but continued to draw views seen in his travels throughout northern India. This impressive drawing of Jama Masjid was taken three years earlier than those of Thomas Daniell, and unlike him, Longcroft managed to include the entire structure in his view.
