DESCRIPTION

Khakha or drawing on paper 13 x 9.25 in. (33 x 23.5 cm.) Back: “Raj Shri Jagat Singhji Medatiyo Sameti ro dhani Isarot?” The four portraits are done in a thakur style (also known as Ghanerao) which developed as the offshoot of Marwar and Maru kingdoms like Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Bikaner. This style of painting is particularly know for the portraits of armed Rajput warriors astride horses in their military paraphernalia. The simple line drawings are expressive but have a dry appeal of the Maru Pradesh, or dry desert lands of Rajputana, where they were rendered.
