To—The  King    Shelter  of  the  World

RESPECTFULLY  SHEWETH,—That  great  mobs  of  people  go daily  to  the  mercantile  shops  of  your  slaves,  situated  near  the Cashmere  Gate,  and  commit  the  most  riotous  proceedings there.  Sometimes  they  bring  the  Chief  Police  Officer  of  the City,  at  others,  the  soldiery,  accusing  your  slaves,  as  a  plea  for their  conduct,  of  sending  supplies  to  the  Enemy.  Be  it  manifest to  Your  Majesty,  that  we  are  the  hereditary  and  homeborn slaves  of  your  illustrious  house.  From  such  proceedings,  our total  ruin  and  impoverishment  must  ensue;  we  therefore  pray that  our  shops  may  be  placed  under  the  lock  and  key  of  theState,  so  that  it  may  be  protected,  and  we  may  obtain  safety from  the  grievance represented.  (Prayers  for  the  prosperity  of the  reign).  Petition  of  the  slave,  Shadiram  and  Sheodial, Shop-keepers.  No  date.
