No 339, Dated Therapia , 12th July 1875
From ---- His Excellency Sir H. Elliot, G.C.B., H. M.’s Ambassador at Constantinople.
To---- Earl Of Derby , Secretary of State for Foreign Affiars.
CAPTAIN HUNTER of the Bengal Staff Corps, who was sent by the Indian Government to accompany the Kashgair Envoy on his journey to Gon-st-antinople and England, informed me on arriving here that it had been privately suggested to him by Lord Northbrook that, during his stay here, he might be able to obtain some information respecting the proceedings of certain Hindustanis residing in this capital.
